Engineer.ai’s Guide to SXSW 2019 in Austin
We’re thrilled to be participating at SXSW 2019. There are four events we’ll sprinkle our magic dust on in Austin this week. Want to know all the deets before anyone else? Check them out below.
#1 Builder Lab

The Builder Lab’s doors will be open from noon to 6pm, March 10-14. Look for our custom Builder laminates to point the way.

It’s our own custom Builder Lab!
It will be fully stocked with TVs, iPads and attentive Builder staff who’ll walk you through just how simple it is to build your own custom software using the Builder platform.
With room set aside for up to six simultaneous live demos along with two private expert meeting rooms, our expert staff will walk you through the Builder process step by step.

#2 The #BuilderxYou Pitch

Why are we putting on another #BuilderxYou? We heard some amazing pitches at #BuilderxYou Web Summit, we’re pleased to put on another pitch. This time, Austin style!
Who’d be interested.
We invite Builders, entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs and enthusiasts to pitch us. We’d love to hear from you. Create your 30-second pitch, send it to us via Twitter using the hashtag #BuilderxYou [mentioning our handle @EngineeringAI] and that’s freaking it! You’ll be entered to win one of 3 Builder-created apps.
Curious exactly how it works? We’ll have more information on another post. Suffice to say, sell us on your billion dollar idea, cause-focused app or the idea you’ve been rolling around but have never gotten the opportunity to make happen.
Briefly, here’s how it works:
- Create a 30-second pitch video of your startup idea

#3 FADER Fort

What exactly is the FADER Fort?
The FADER Fort is easily one of the most coveted annual music events at SXSW. It’s three nights of mind-blowing music produced by Fader Magazine. This year it’ll feature Megan Thee Stallion, Charley Bliss, Omar Apollo, ‘rap upstart’ Queen Key, Lil Gotit and so many more. Engineer.ai is teaming up with the Fader folks to help make it happen with a custom guest management platform built especially for the event using our Builder platform.
With artists and management all compiling their own guest lists for this blockbuster event, Fader needed a platform they could customize and trust to keep it all straight and get guests into the event without all the lines and confusion. So they created it themselves with Builder.
The resulting platform allowed them to own the process from start to finish. Multiple managers onsite could easily add or remove names from the guest list right on their phone, and the changes would automatically synch with all check-in iPads. No fuss. No wait. Seamless.

#4 The Miles Davis House
One of the most innovative figures in jazz history, trumpeter Miles Davis notched his mainstream breakthrough with 1970’s Bitches Brew, which reached No. 35 on the Billboard 200 and was certified platinum.
His 1959 album, Kind Of Blue, ranks as the best-selling jazz album of all time and is on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums. He’s won 8 Grammy Awards; a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and 10 of his recordings have been inducted into the Grammy Hall Of Fame.
Miles Davis House is an annual SXSW day party hosted by the Miles Davis family and featuring a wide cross-section of multi-genre emerging talent – the next generation of musical disruptors. In the spirit of Miles, the celebration promotes music, art and cultural progressiveness. Kind Of Blue Scotch Whisky and specialty cocktails will be served, and a hot new Miles Davis T-shirt will be available with original artwork by Francine Turk.
This year the event is presented by Miles Davis Estate in association with Engineer.ai, Legacy Recordings/Sony Music Entertainment and Riviera Imports. The music will be curated by The Miles Davis Estate and Andrew Leib, with production by Antone’s.
You’ll need a special app to be admitted to this free event, but we’ve got you covered. Download it for yourself (coming soon!) and get ready to be blown away with live performances by Miles Electric Band, Micah Nelson/The Particle Kid featuring Sunny War, David Wax Museum, Dos Santos, Striking Matches and Cedric Burnside.
